Bolero Trio has been entertaining audiences for over 5 years with their unique blend of pop and classical styles. Their sound evolved to a new level with the release of their third album, Betwixt - a collection of their most requested arrangements. Their music has been described as "progressive classical" and their versatility in many different styles of music makes them one of the best additions to any concert, wedding, or corporate event.
Bolero Trio consists of Adam Shugar (guitar) Anastasia Virlan (violin) and Veronica Ungureanu (violin). The trio is united by a passion for performing and a desire to explore diverse musical styles such as rock, flamenco, celtic, and klezmer. They have released three CDs since 2012: Prochaine Station (2012), A Shot Glass in the Dark (2015), and Betwixt (2016).
Bolero Trio's start began in 2011 in Montreal, Canada. While its members have always played all styles of music, the trio originally started by playing mostly classical music and tangos. The current incarnation of the group came to be in 2013 after Adam met Anastasia after an orchestra concert. Veronica joined the next year. The brilliant virtuosity of Anastasia and Veronica combined with Adam's unique arrangements and compositions gives them their unique sound. Today, Bolero Trio's pop repertoire remains their most well-known but they still continue to play the same tangos and classical pieces from their earlier days. They are currently planning their fourth album and regularly upload videos to their Youtube channel.
They have played at venues in both Montreal and Ottawa. In 2012, they travelled to São Paulo, Brazil for the Second Red Bull Sounderground Festival and their song "A Shot Glass in the Dark" was featured on a compilation of Canadian music by the NCRA. Their past clients include the City of Montreal, STM, Concordia University, Consumer's Choice Awards, Masco Canada, and over a hundred lovely couples for their weddings.
